Posted by Linda Chion Kenney (Aug. 2, 2008) - For a third year in a row, the Kiwanis Club of Greater Brandon undertook coordinating duties for the Back-to-School Coalition of Hillsborough County event at Mintz Elementary School. The event provides free physicals and immunizations to incoming students regardless of need. More than 210 children were served at the Aug. 2, 2008 event supported by a myriad of community groups, including Brandon Regional Hospital and All Children's Specialty Care Services of Brandon.

Volunteering Aug. 2, 2008 at Mintz Elementary School, for the Back-to-School Coalition of Hillsborough County school health event, are, from left: Karen Gerardi, Julie McHugh-Smith, Margie Wells-Friedman, and Dustie Amatangelo. The event is one of several to ensure students get the physicals and immunizations they need to enter and return to school. The services are free. Similar events will be held: Aug. 9, at Beth Shields Middle School (3908 19th Ave. North, Ruskin) and Blake High School (1701 North Blvd., Tampa); and Aug. 16, at Town 'N Country Recreation Center (6039 Hanley Road, Tampa) and University Area Community Health Center (13601 North 22nd St., Tampa).
