The Cornerstone Community Center in Plant City, Fla., at 315 Collins Street, is the venue for the July staging of the Cole Porter musical
Anything Goes.
The production marks the big summer show for the 29th season of
Plant City Entertainment. Show dates and times are July 17-18 and 24-25 at 8 p.m. and July 19 at 2 p.m. Tickets cost $10 and $8 for students and seniors.
"I'm a big fan of funny, over- the-top musicals that don't have one female lead and one male lead," said director April Smith. "I like characters. I like little, bitty character parts, like the part of Erma in this show. It's a small part but it's super funny and she steals the scene when she's on stage."
As for the set, Smith said she couldn't be happier. "The set I drew on a piece of paper and said this is what I want," she noted. "They told me I was crazy and then they took measurements and said, 'Okay, we can do it.' It's a fabulous set."
