By LINDA CHION KENNEY: The Greater Brandon Community Foundation held its second annual "An Evening of Hope, Angels Among Us" dinner at the Palmetto Club in Lithia on Nov. 17, 2007. Prior to the dinner, there were about 60 Foundation Angels. Another 50 or so were added by the night's end. "These are people who give their time, talent and resources" to those in trying times, said Foundation president Anne Nymark. "It's not about necessarily writing a check," she added. "Help could mean mowing a lawn or painting a house or fixing an air conditioner." Here, for a list of Foundation angels.

Daphne Seals, left, of the Tampa Tribune, is a breast cancer survivor. She's with Debra Williams of the Bellafia Chocolate Boutique at the Winthrop Town Centre in Riverview, off Bloomingale Avenue between Watson and Providence roads. "My father passed away from cancer, so this organization is near and dear to my heart," Williams said. As for the greater Brandon/Riverview area, she added: "I've traveled all over the world and this is the first time that I've been to a place where the community has drawn everybody in."

"I wish my mom had been here," Waldron said of Mary Nell Stephens, who died from ovarian cancer two years ago. "She collecet angels. I wish she could have seen all the angels we have collected," volunteers who give of their time, talent and resources to help others. Added Nymark: "We've been able to touch so many lives and we're so grateful."
