"It's been awesome," Lori Bukaweski, BSAC director of marketing and membership services, said about the Casino Night fundraiser hosted by the
Brandon Sports & Aquatic Center on March 6, 2010, at the
Barn Theatre at Winthrop.
"We got a lot of support from our members and the community and this is a great facility," added Bukaweski, pictured with BSAC Executive Director Chuck Burgess.
Bukaweski credited the night's success to the love of the community for the BSAC and its mission to serve children. The Brandon Sports and Aquatic Center bills itself as a tax-exempt nonprofit organization that "has dedicated more than four decades to enhancing the lives of our community by providing fitness, character, and athletic programs for persons of all ages and abilities."
"Everything is for the kids, it goes right back to our programs," she said. The BSAC, she added, "is really a jewel in the community, for what it does for kids. More than 600 kids a day go through our facility and we provide scholarships for people in need of affordable childcare, which is very important in this economy."
