This year's honorary mayor of Brandon, Tammy Holmberg, with the first-ever honorary mayor of Brandon, Nat Storms. The President's Roundtable, the group that runs both the Brandon Fourth of July Parade and the mayor's race, celebrated the
parade's 50 years with a special Our Town Histories presentation in July. Holmberg hosted at the Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association in Brandon on Sept. 19, 2008 a reception for past mayors as part of her "thank-you" to the community for helping her raise money in her campaign for mayor. Each year the one-month race, which begins June 1 and ends the morning of the Brandon Fourth of July parade, is won by the candidate who raises the most money for charity. The race, and parade, are sponsored by the Roundtable Charities of Greater Brandon Inc., more commonly known as the President's Roundtable. The group is open to representatives from all charity and not-for-profit groups and organizations in the greater Brandon area.
