For those living more than 50 miles from the hospital, and qualifying for aid based on income limits, the Haley House Fund houses the families of injured veterans as they undergo treatment for massive and multiple traumas.

Joining Huber is Ron "Fister" Messer, center, newly inducted into the Westside chapter, and Rich "Hammer" Knowles, who with Huber helped organize the event as secreatry of the Nam Knights Westside chapter in Valrico, Fla. Nam Knights is a motorcycle riding club comprised of 50 percent veterans and 50 percent cops, with slots for civilian riders also available.
"We were expecting 1,000 people and we got probably close to 2,000, not counting the vendors," Knowles said. "Last year we had 600." The Haley House fundraiser is an annual event for the Nam Knights members; last year's event was held at AMVETS Post 44 in Brandon, off of Pauls Drive near the post office.
"[Winthrop Town Founder] John Sullivan stepped up and offered us the Pole Barn," Huber said about this year's more spacious location.
