Riverview Idol hopefuls take a break from opening-round competition in their quest to become the fifth Riverview Idol at Riverview High School in Florida.

From the 25 high school singers, 10 would remain as contestants after the initial round of 2010 Riverview Idol judging, held in the school auditorium on Sept. 21. The first round was judged by audience votes only.

The second round of competition, featuring a panel of judges for the Top 10 vocal selections, is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. in the school theatre. Riverview High School is at 11311 Boyette Road in Riverview, Fla.

The competition has become an annual fundraiser for the Riverview High School chorus program, directed by Liz Stewart (third from the left in the back).
