Posted by LINDA CHION KENNEY (March 30, 2008): The Center Place Patron Party was held March 29 at the Pepin Hospitality Centre in Tampa. Hundreds attended the fundraiser gala, which is held annually on behalf of the Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association. Otto, founder of Stagedoor Performing Arts Inc., and Cecchini, a longtime thespian and set builder, have long used Center Place for the community theater troupe's productions.

Children's Theatre is a big draw at Center Place. And the patrons are more than happy with what they see there.

Lisa Rodriguez, center, is this year's recipient of the Spud Clements Award. With her, from left, are Center Place board members Susan Saunders and Randy Wolfe. At right is Lisa's daughter, Kayla. Lisa's husband, Sandy, helped found Center Place; the center's home was named in his honor after his death. The Sandy Rodriguez Center, at 619 Vonderburg Drive in Brandon, also houses the Brandon Regional Library.

From left, Kayla and Lisa Rodriguez, Debbie Kyle and Kay Sullivan. All three women have been past presidents of Center Place. Debbie and Kay left their seats to congratulate Lisa immediately after she walked off the stage upon hearing her selection as this year's Spud Clements honoree.

Nicole Ortega, center, received this year's Pat Odiornoe Scholarship. With her are, from left, Tommy, Bobby and Ryan Odiorne, Pat's sons. With them is Barbara Schwabe.
