"You've got to follow your heart, that's why I'm here," said Brian McRae, who learned about the Fifth Annual Community Thanksgiving Day Dinner after Cynthia Pinckney came to talk at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Brandon. "I don't know her personally but I know her work and that speaks volumes right there." As for the hundreds of people on hard times who showed up for the Nov. 27, 2008 meal, McRae said: "I've got a feeling this is the tip of the iceberg right here. I don't know anyone who has not been affected by the economy. Good luck trying to find stability in this world." Important to remember now, he added, is "we need each other to hold things up."
