Greater Brandon Relay For Life Draws Hundreds To Overnight Fundraiser (2008)
Posted by LINDA CHION KENNEY: The Greater Brandon Relay for Life at Brandon High School, April 25-26, drew hundreds of volunteers, survivors and friends. Organizing the effort on the school's behalf was Michelle Bukiet.
ALL GALLERY PHOTOS BY LINDA CHION KENNEY: Four-year-old Peyton Mayhew served as the 2008 honorary cancer survivor at the Greater Brandon Relay for Life, held April 25-26 at Brandon High School. Relays locally and nationwide are held to raise awareness about cancer prevention, to raise funds for research for a cure, to support those in the fight against cancer and to remember those who fell victim to the disease. Each relay begins with a victory lap walked by cancer survivors. Peyton, diagnosed with leukemia at age 2, walked that lap with her family. As her mother, Anissa, put it: "Whether you're 2, whether you're 20 or whether you're 80, you deserve the hope for one more day." Visit:
