Chess Nuts, run by Coach Willard "T" Taylor, is based in Temple Terrace but has satellite locations in New Tampa and Brandon. Taylor has been instructing kids in chess for more than 30 years and focuses on the beginning player. He also holds summer camps that draw master players to instruct the advanced players. Also, tournaments for both the beginning and advanced, competitive player. Chess Nuts, and the Tampa Chess Club, meets at 10936 N 56th Street in Temple Terrace, Fla/; there more than 100 students are paid members. A yearly membership is $75 for an individual and $125 for a family. ChessNuts is open in Temple Terrace on Thursdays from 6:30 to 8 p.m.; on Saturdays from 10:30 to noon; and on Friday nights, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., for open play. In addition, ChessNuts has satellite classes in Brandon, at the Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association, from 6:30 to 8 p.m.; and in New Tampa, at the Family Crisis Center, on Tuesday nights.
