Lisa Rodriguez'
Artsi Phartsi Fundraiser Furthers Her Bid For Brandon Mayor
(June 11, 2010)
The "Artsi Phartsi" fundraiser for honorary mayor of Brandon candidate Lisa Rodriguez was held June 11, 2010 at Center Place. The fine arts and civic association will benefit from monies raised in the month-long campaign.
In her campaign for honorary mayor of Brandon, Lisa Rodriguez is running in support of the
Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association. Rodriguez' sponsoring charity and charity of choice is Center Place, where she hosted the June 11 "Artsi Phartsi" fundraiser, featuring live music, drinks, appetizers, and a 50/50 raffle.
The successful candidate each year is the one who "buys' his or her way into office with the most money raised for charity. The race is run in June and determined on the morning of the Fourth of July, before the town parade. Both the parade and the mayor's race are run by the Community Roundtable, an umbrella organization founded to further the cause of non-profit groups. Ten percent of the campaign donations go to the Roundtable. Another 10 percent, to the candidate's sponsoring organization. The rest of the money is split among the candidate's chosen causes.
