Brandon Honorary Mayor Tammy Holmberg, left, and Stampin' Up demonstrator Jeri Fontana, right, on Oct. 4, 2008 hosted "World Card Day: Stampin' Up For the Troops" at the Buckhorn Springs Golf and Country Club in Valrico, Florida. Their aim was to make at least 1,500 cards to send to deployed troops so that they, in turn, could send the holiday cards back to their friends and family members with personalized greetings written inside. The event, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., drew more than 100 attendees; and way before noon the goal had been reached. By the end of the day, the final tally was 2,069 hand-crafted cards for the troops.
