This year's Plant City High School Raider Marching Band theme is "Olympus." That's why band leader Ian Peacock, front, is wearing a tie in the colors of the Greek flag. The show, he said, has four movements and each movement depicts a Greek god: Poseidon, Zeus, Aphrodite and Ares. "I like it because it's new and different, something the kids and the parents haven't seen before," said Peacock, with, from left, parents David and Rebecca Delph and Peacock's girlfriend, Stephanie Wright, the band teacher at Tomlin Middle School. The show, Peacock added, "is more classical-oriented music and less popular music."

Durant High School Cougar Pride Marching Band Director Dan DuBay, who said this year's show, "Asian Impressions" was selected because "I try to do something different every year," he said. "I try to think outside the box." DuBay said he always had an interest in Asian culture. A Taekwondo instrutor will be working with the band; so, too, a Japanese drummer from Epcot. (The band purchased Japanese Tiko drums for the show.) Added DuBay, about his students; "They're going to learn a lot about Asian culture in the process. It's not just a show."
