From left, Morgan Lynch, Colleen Darken and Sarah Dacey, dancers with the McGinley Academy of Irish Dance. The dancers are shown at the 2009 St. Patrick's Day celebration at the Barn Theatre at Winthrop, in Riverview, Fla. Earlier that night, the group performed at
Whitey's Fox & Hounds Irish Pub in Brandon. Following their Winthrop performance, the dancers entertained also at O'Brien's Irish Pub of Brandon and O'Toole's Irish Pub of Brandon.
Sarah Dacey is one of the five McGinley dancers advancing to the 2009 Oireachtas Rince na Cruinne
(World Irish Dancing Championships 2009) that this year, for the first time, will take place in the United States, in Philadelphia, April 5-12. Dacey, Sara Barton, Katie Kelly, Francis Kratz and Daniella Spina qualified for the world competition after a successful showing at the Southern Region Oireachtas, held in Orlando.
"Ever since I was a little girl I liked the Michael Flatley 'River Dance' and 'Feet of Flames' dance videos," Dacey said. "And when I saw there were schools where they taught Irish dance, I wanted to do it."
