With a love story as "bumpy as a surrey ride down a country road," the musical is the first written by Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein. Based on the 1931 play, Green Grow the Lilacs, and set in the Oklahoma territory outside the town of Claremore in 1906, Oklahoma! tells the story of a burly cowboy and a winsome farm girl as they meet, fall in love, and set out to stake their claim to their new life together in a brand-new state.

The show is directed by Janet Frenkel, with Jeremy D. Silverman as musical director and Seth Travaglino as assistant director and choreographer. Sound engineering is by Mike Wood, with set design by Rick Faurote. Costumes are by Becky Tiemann and Rachael Gallant. Tech director is Elaina Di Monaco; Jani Steinbacher is in charge of props.

Brandon Youth Theatre last performed in the spring, also at the Barn Theatre at Winthrop, with Seussical, the Musical.

Oklahoma! features, under the direction of conductor and keyboardist Silverman, a live orchestra with: James Rigby (drums and percussion), Eva Gulyas (flute), Scott Cooley (trumpet), Larry Wisisinger (trombone), Lydia Blow (oboe), Jimmy Blow (clarinet), Emily Monroe (violin 1), Taylor Nettina (violin 2), Max Thompson (viola), Kayla Cordero (cello), and Anna Werkhiser (bass).
