Who would you want for a BFF? Angela or Jessica? What about Alice? Should we throw Alice into the mix? Who would you rather go on a date with? Is Bella a good role model for young girls?
Such were the questions being answered at overnight release parties for the
New Moon DVD, based on the second of four books in the
Twilight series written by
Stephanie Meyer. The series, literally, is a dream come true for the series' author, Stephanie Meyer. In 2003, the stay- at-home mom of tree young boys woke from a dream featuring the vibrant characters that fill the pages of her now wildly successful manuscripts. From slush pile (at one publishing house) to literary honors (such as ALA Top Ten Books For Young Adults), the
Twilight series and its star-crossed lovers have struck a nerve with the reading populace young and old. And so, too, the movies based on the books.
The 2010 release of the
New Moon video on DVD was celebrated with a pre-release party at the Borders book store in Brandon, as it joined retailers nationwide heralding the DVD's relase a la the Harry Potter madness that accompnied each long-awaited book in that series, written by J.K. Rowland.
The party in Brandon, Fla., started at 10 p.m. and featured females of all ages -- including lots of moms and daughters and some boys and men, too.
