The Newsome High School Wolves hosted the Durant Cougars for a make- or-break game for both teams. For Newsome, the Nov. 6, 2009 match-up resulted in the football team's second consecutive district title. For the Cougars, who lost a close game, 34-31, the loss eliminated the team from playoff contention. The game drew thousands of fans as two sets of marching bands and colorguards raised the standard with their stellar halftime performances.
