The cast at curtain call Aug. 16, 2008 gives Lance Cardwell, assistant director and set designer/constructor, a round of applause for his two-story, rotating set for "Noises Off." At the cast party later that night, Cardwell received a standing ovation from his cast as well. "I just put lumber together and painted it," Cardwell said, as his cast snickered. As one member put it: "Without a set, you'd have no show. Especially this show." The premise of "Noises Off" is a farce that involves a two-story set with eight constantly opening and closing doors, the setting of a home that must be reversed in the second act to showcase the cast's backstage theatrics as well.

"I have never been more proud to be associated with any production as I have this show," said Brendan Jacoby, director of "Noises Off," a Village Players production. Jacoby last directed David Mamet's "Glengarry Glen Ross."

Nights of packed houses in the James McCabe Theater prompted the Village Players to consider extending the show one additional weekend. If the rights can be reserved, the show will be carried over for an Aug. 29-30 staging.

"Nothing On" is the show- within-a-show that the cast of "Noises Off" is reharsing for in act one and staging in acts two and three. Ryan Faurote holds the "Nothing On" program that flipped over becomes the "Noises Off" program. His father, Rick, on stage plays Selsdon Mowbray.
