Hundreds of students from 13 elementary schools in Area 6 of Florida's Hillsborough County School District gathered to perform before the last lap of the 2010 Plant City Relay For Life at Plant City High School.
"It's a growing tradition for schools in our area," said Lagretta Snowden, chorus instructor at the Lincoln IB Magnet Elementary School. "We mostly have elementary schools [involved] but sometimes middle schools and high schools participate. We all rally together for one great cause."
Hundreds of Relay attendees, friends, and family members listened to the "Survivor Musical Tribute" conducted by the schools' respective chorus teachers working together as a team.
The chorus teachers said the grand Relay gathering afforded a unique opportunity for students from various schools to sing together in a large choral setting.
Each school chorus held its own practices; the first time the schools sang together was before the final lap of the 2010 Plant City Relay For Life on April 24.
