Love, Sex and the I.R.S. took home top production honors at the 2010
Plant City Entertainment Applause Awards Banquet. The banquet, too, marks the installation of the board of directors, from left, Shirley Outen (second vice president), Kim Outen Mitchell, Paul Hetrick, Coy Permenter (secretary), Judy Barta, Jennifer Jackson (first vice president), Dr. Hal Brewer (president), Dodie White (treasurer), Marsha Passmore, and Rick Norman. The ceremony, held Sept. 11 at the First United Methodist Church (Wesley Center) on Wheeler Avenue, featured also an Our Town Histories retrospective look back at the 2009-10 season, which is the 30-year-old community theater troupe’s first season in its newly acquired home.
The 6,000- square-foot building, at 101 N. Thomas Street in Plant City, once housed the Plant City Courier and also was a feed house and an auction house. The new theatre opened with
Love, Sex and the I.R.S., which also earned for its director, Clint Shephard, the 2010 Applause Award for best direction.
