The Rev. Bill Swengros, of
St. Stephen Catholic Church, ends the Sept. 25-26 St. Stephen Catholic Church Ministry Fair with members of the Life Teen Ensemble, from left, Jessie Saldivar, Lindsey White, hayden Harkins, Dan Carney, Daniel Cardenas, Josh Feeley, and Jarad Goudreau.
Life Teen, the church's youth group, is one of 96 ministries in 11 categories that met with parishoners at the 2010 Ministry Fair on church grounds, at 5049 Bell Shoals Road in Valrico, Fla.
While established primarily for church parishoners, and many for church purposes only, a good number of the ministires, including Meals on Wheels and the Career Transition Ministry, also serve the greater community.
The church serves "14,500 souls," according to Swengros, and the annual Ministry Fair, he adds, shows "people do care and they want to make a difference."
The fair afforded also another opportunity to display plans for the church's
major expansion and its related building campaign.
Construction updates are posted periodically on the church's Web site.
Church officials are planning to build a bigger sanctuary on the grounds that already house
St. Stephen Catholic School, at 10424 St. Stephen Circle in Riverview, Fla., with frontage on Boyette Road.
