Shelby Suarez, 14, plays the title role in The Diary of Anne Frank, dramatized by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett and based upon the book, Anne Frank: Diary of a Young Girl. The StageDoor Performing Arts production features a cast of 10 and the directorial debut of Kat Coates, a graduate of the arts magnet program at Blake High School in Tampa, Fla.
"I decided to do The Diary of Anne Frank when I was 12 years old, after I first read the play, in middle school," Coates said. "This is such a huge, important part of history. It can't be forgotten."
Produced by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service, Inc., the StageDoor production show dates are April 23-24 and 30 and May 1 at Limona Village Chapel in Brandon, Fla., at 408 Limona Road. Also, May 14-15 at Brandon's Center Place Fine Arts & Civic Association, at 609 Vonderburg Drive. The May 15th performance is a dinner theater production.
Ticket prices for the Limona productions and the May 14 Center Place staging are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors, students, and military. Group rates are available. Call StageDoor at 813-630-2237.
