Veteran community theater actress Mollie Anderson channeled a host of charcters to fulfill her emcee duties at the StageDoor Performing Arts awards ceremony at Center Place on Feb. 5, 2010. The awards recognized the best of the 2009 season, as showcased in the following shows:

Red Herring
The Sound of Music
The Fantasticks
Steel Magnolias
Little Women

"There's no business like show business," sings Rick Faurote, who stars in the upcoming Broadway Rhapsody StageDoor production.

Cast members from the upcoming StageDoor production of Broadway Rhapsody kick off the awards show with their rendition of There's No Business Like Show Business, from the musical, Annie Get Your Gun.

Janet Frenkel received StageDoor awards for Best Actress in a Major Supporting Role (Little Women), Best Set Design (Steel Magnolias), and Best Director (Steel Magnolias). In a tie with The Fantasticks, directed by James Faurote, Frenkel's Steel Magnolias shared Best Production honors.

Steel Magnolias, which won Best Production in a tie with The Fantasticks, starred Mollie Anderson, Olivia Denhoff, Terry Fiset, Kate Leisner, Anita Travaglino, and Jann Van Dyke. The show also won awards for Best Set Design (Janet Frenkel), Best Actress (Kate Leisner), and Best Director (Janet Frenkel).

Voting for Best Production resulted in a tie, for Steel Magnolias and The Fantasticks. Not pictured are Brandon Martin, who for the same production won the award for Best Musical Direction; Rob Nicholson, who was nominated for Best Technical Achievement; Jeff Bogue, who was nominated for Best Actor; and Mandy Faurote, who was nominated for Best Costume Design. Also for the same production, Ryne Faurote won Best Actor in a Minor Supporting Role; Waring, for Best Actor in a Major Supporting Role; and Jenna Flens, for Best Stage Management. DeSoye was nominated for Best Actress and Flens for Best Actress in a Minor Supporting Role. James Faurote was nominated for two awards, for Best Director and Best Choreographer, a nomination he shared with Heather Cazzola, who won the award for her work in The Sound of Music. Waring, in a tie, shared Best Actor in a Major Supporting Role honors with Peter B. Sanders, for his work in Red Herring. Ryne Faurote also was nominated for Best Set Design for his work in The Fantasticks.

Tyler Waring, accepting his award for Best Actor in a Major Supporting Role, for his work in The Fantasticks. Also winning the award, in a tie vote, was Peter B. Sanders, for his work in Red Herring.
