Marsha Rau said she and her husband, Mike, enjoy coming to the monthly Strawberry Classic Car Show in Plant City, held the third Saturday of the month, because "it brings back memories from when you were young."

Mike and Marsha Rau recently bought a '57 Chevy and were at the Strawberry Classic Car Show in Plant City on Sept. 20, 2008 to talk about it. The car is on its way from North Carolina. "It's the kind of car I lusted for when I was a teenager that I didn't have the money to buy," Mike Rau said, about his decision to buy the red, 2-door Chevy Bel Air. "

Heather Riley, seeking petition signatures to have the high school in Hillsborough County being built just outside of Plant City, in Dover, named for her grandfather, Osburn Griffin. The nearly 100-acre campus (to house a high school, middle school and elementary school) is at Newsome and Gallagher roads, south of Interstate-4 at the McIntosh Road exit. The high school and elementary school are scheduled to open in 2009. The school board is expected to name the two schools in November. The new high school, known as "Triple UUU" for planning purposes, will draw students from Armwood High, about 4 miles away at 12000 E. U.S. Highway 92, as well as Plant City and Durant high schools.
