As founder of
Take 2 The Stage, director and acting coach Janet Frenkel spends most of her time getting her actors to shine on stage. On Friday, April 23, 2010, the spotlight turned her way with a surprise tribute from her students and their parents. A thankful theater community wanted to show Frenkel how much they support and appreciate her work behind the scenes in making their children's dreams come true on stage. As the Poole family wrote in the tribute program: "Thank you for your professionalism and teaching our entire family about the performing arts. We greatly value you as an artist, and your friendship." Added the Olneys: "You have helped make what seemed like a once in a lifetime opportunity happen oer and over againg. You rock!"
Directed by Vinnie Natale, the "Find Your Light" tribute to Janet Frenkel took to the stage at the James McCabe Theater. Program tributes acknowledged Frenkel for "a wonderful introduction to musical theatre," for "all of the time you invested into helping me with college auditions" and "for not giving up on me." In his own personal note to Frenkel, Andy Tekampe noted: "You have helped me develop so much as an actor and I still know you can teach me even more. I've changed so much thanks to you and I always think deeply about all the roles I have since I did
Seussical with you."
Frenkel receives a warm hug from her mother, Joanne Salem, shortly after arriving at the James McCabe Theater for the tribute that featured scenes from recent Take 2 The Stage productions. Speaking for many others, Caitlin Masessa wrote in the program: "Thank you for making all my shows with you memorable."
