Veterans Day 2009 At Hillsborough County Veterans Park And Museum
(Nov. 11, 2009)
Veterans Day at the Hillsboorugh County Veterans Park and Museum featured JROTC members from more than 10 high schools representing the four branches of armed services in formation and in exhibition. From aged vets to those new to the ranks, including members of the veterans club at the University of South Florida with service in both in Iraq and Afghanistan, the day was a somber reminder of those who sacrificed their time and offered their lives to serve. While Memorial Day is more of a remembrance of those who lost their lives in military service, Veterans Day is a reminder not only of slain and injured but of those, too, who live with and after their time as soldiers. Each of the flags above stand for a man or woman who lost his or her life in "the global war on terrorism," both in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
