The Village Players returns to the stage in the Ken Ludwig comedy
Moon Over Buffalo, a madcap comedy centering on the lives of George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950's on stage currently with the repertory theatre productions of
Private Lives and
Cyrano De Bergerac. Thanks to George's dalliance with a young ingénue, the couple is headed toward splitsville at the same time they receive word that possibly they might have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee.
Produced by special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc., the Village Players production features, from left, James Faurote (Paul Singer), Mary Striby (Rosalind Hay), and Mollie Anderson (Charlotte Hay). Also, Domin Pazo (George Hay), Kennda Varnum (Ethel), Ashley Paige Allen (Eileen), Brendan Jacoby (Richard Maynor), and Ryne Faurote (Howard). The prodcution is directed by April Smith Golombek. Assistant director is Courtney Kyle. Costume design by Jen Poppehagen, with set, lights, and sound by Chris Poppehagen. Stage manager is Keith Holmes.
The play takes places in the '50's and is set in "the green room," which is the room in a theater for the accommodation of performers or speakers when they are off stage.
Show dates are April 9-10 and 16-17 at 8:15 p.m., and April 11 at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $12, and $10 for seniors and $8 for children under age 10. The James McCabe Theater is at 506 Fifth Street in Valrico, Fla.
