"We probably had more than 1,000 voluteers helping us and our committee was probably 75 of the hardest working people we've ever known," said Anne Nymark, co-founder of the
Greater Brandon Community Foundation (GBCF), about the group's first annual "Rock, Rib and Ride Festival," held Oct. 16-19 at the Florida State Fairgounds. Nymark, center, is joined by GBCF co-founder Arlene Waldron and Rock, Rib & Ride entertainment chair Kevin Humphrey. In back is Cindy Griffin, chair of the event's Southern Charm Wine and Food Gala, and Lee Silverstein of Macy's, an event sponsor. Silverstein also serves as a foundation boad member.
"I had the opportunity to see what the foundation has done in the past and everything they do, giving back to the community, is first class," Silverstein said. "I thought it would be a privilege for Macy's to be a part of [Rock, Rib and Ride]."
Griffin agreed. "Like everything I've seen the foundation do, this is first class," she said. "I knew when Anne called me it was going to be a great event. And I'm blown away by the talent on the board."
Waldron and Nymark focsed on the talent that gave of their time and vision. As Waldron put it: "We created a vehicle for people to fulfill their passions and their desire to make a difference.
