Carol Reed with her son, Brett, a student at Bloomingdale High School. The Oct. 27 fundraiser helped secure for Brett aquatic therapy at the Brandon Sports & Aquatic Center through True Blue Therapy. Reed has Friedreich's Ataxia, a rare and degenerative disease that rapidly takes away motor and sensory coordination. The aquatic therapy, "helps him to have his muscles a little looser so he's not so stiff," said Carol Reed. "He's very much affected from the waist down. It doesn't slow him down any, though. He's everywhere in that wheelchair, but we need to keep his muscles as loose as possible."
